The ATR 42 is a transport aircraft passenger turboprop. The first aircraft manufactured by ATR has made its first flight 16 August 1984 and was commissioned on 9 December 1985. There is a cargo variant (based on the ATR 42-300) and quick change (ATR 42-500). 12 ATR 42 has also been specially designed for maritime surveillance by Alenia and delivered to the Coast Guard and the Italian Customs.
